Am I Pregnant?
Your body has amazing mechanisms that signal early pregnancy. If you’ve recently had unprotected sex and missed your period, your body may already be signaling that something has changed. These early signs are your body’s natural way of letting you know it might be time to check for pregnancy.

Early Pregnancy Signs & Symptoms
Every woman—and every pregnancy—is unique. Still, there are some common signs that might make you stop and wonder.¹
-
Have I missed my period?
-
I feel nauseous or like I might throw up.
-
My breasts are tender or sore.
-
I’m getting up to use the bathroom more than usual.
-
I feel more tired than normal.
-
My moods seem to be all over the place.
If you’ve found yourself asking, “Am I pregnant?”, it may be because your body is sending subtle cues that something new is happening.
Sometimes, what seems like a light period could actually be implantation bleeding,² a normal sign that occurs when a fertilized egg attaches to the lining of the uterus. This spotting can be mistaken for a menstrual cycle, but it’s not the same thing.
How to Find Out if You’re Pregnant
If you’ve noticed any of these symptoms—or recently had unprotected sex—you’re not alone. Many women have been where you are now, looking for clarity and peace of mind. Essential Pregnancy Center offers compassionate, professional support to help you get answers and understand your next steps.
Pregnancy Test
The first step to confirm a pregnancy is taking a lab-quality pregnancy test. These tests detect the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) and are over 99% accurate when performed correctly.
As a non-profit medical center, we offer no-cost, confidential pregnancy testing. If your test is positive, you may qualify for a limited, non-diagnostic ultrasound to help determine how far along you are.
Ultrasound
An ultrasound not only confirms the presence of a pregnancy but also ensures that the pregnancy is developing where it should be. This exam can help identify whether the pregnancy is viable—meaning it hasn’t miscarried and isn’t ectopic (located outside the uterus).
Our scans are performed by trained medical professionals, such as an RDMS-certified sonographer or a Registered Nurse trained in limited sonography. During your visit, the ultrasound can also estimate how many weeks along you are and help identify your approximate date of conception.
